Paul Foster decided it was time for him to do work that he enjoyed. After being employed for many years at the same job for someone else, he wanted to put his passion for art to work for himself and others.
Paul has been painting and making art since he was a child, but about 4 years ago he started learning the painting techniques of famed TV artist, Bob Ross. When the Covid-19 pandemic struck in early 2020, Paul decided to take things one step further and he set out to become a Bob Ross Certified Instructor.
Once certified, and with the encouragement of his wife, daughter, and son-in-law (who also became partners in the business), Paul decided to open Fostered Up Art in order to, "teach others not just how to paint one specific painting, but to teach them how to fish in a sense so they can continue painting after the class is over", he told me.
We got the opportunity to interview co-owner, Jeff Mayott about their new business and art experience and you can see the full interview at the link below.
Paul seems to be a teacher at heart and he shared, "I want people to realize that they CAN paint." Paul believes that with the right instructor, everyone has it within them to create art. His desire is that his studio will be a place where beginners and experienced painters alike can come and leave with a painting that they made and that they love.
If you spend just a few minutes with Paul you'll learn several things about him very quickly; He loves Jesus, his family, painting, teaching, and telling stories. All of these things help to make Fostered Up Art not just a painting class, but an "art experience" that I believe people in our community will find joy in.
